BANGKOK, Thailand – The Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) reportedly recovered more than 7 million baht for consumers through mediation during August and September 2026. The agency also approved 50 additional civil cases and introduced nine relief measures to help flood-affected households reduce recovery expenses.
The civil cases include 30 online purchase disputes, 10 real estate cases, seven general merchandise complaints, and three service-related cases. Criminal proceedings were also initiated against more than 76 business operators, resulting in settlement fines totaling 1.78 million baht. Another 880,000 baht was recovered through enforcement of court judgments.
Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi summarized flood relief measures covering vehicle repairs, insurance, financial assistance, housing, and household appliances. Authorities have helped recover 34 flood-damaged vehicles, while HomePro has assisted 10,185 people. Other participating businesses are offering repair services and discounts.
Supamas instructed the OCPB to monitor assistance programs, accelerate compensation, and protect flood victims from unfair business practices. Consumers are advised to check eligibility and service conditions before seeking assistance and can report complaints through the OCPB hotline at 1166. (NNT)
