BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai Customs seize 4,865 counterfeit shoes and bags worth 44.4 million baht
Thai Customs officials have seized 4,865 pairs of shoes and bags bearing trademark-infringing marks, with estimated economic damage exceeding 44.4 million baht, at Bangkok Port. The Bangkok Port Customs Office inspected one shipping container arriving from China, covering six import declaration entries.
The inspection uncovered 4,865 undeclared items, including shoes and bags, that allegedly infringed trademarks and were prohibited from being imported into Thailand. The case involves alleged false declarations intended to evade import prohibitions under the Customs Act B.E. 2560 (2017), the Trademark Act B.E. 2534 (1991), and the Export and Import of Goods Act B.E. 2522 (1979). It also falls under the Ministry of Commerce’s 2022 notification prohibiting the export, import and transit of trademark-infringing and copyright-infringing goods.
