BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi has chaired a meeting on public communications and media preparations for the Royal Cremation Ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother in December. Public Relations Department (PRD) Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem attended as a committee member and secretary, along with representatives of relevant agencies.
Preparations during the final three months will cover a media center, facilities for journalists, live broadcasts, and a broadcast center operated by the Television Pool of Thailand. Agencies are also preparing official commentary and narration to ensure accurate coverage befitting the highest royal honors, while the colors used in public communications will gradually be adjusted for the period of mourning.
According to the Bureau of the Royal Household, ceremonies will take place from December 15 to 19. A royal merit-making ceremony will be held on December 15, followed by the conveyance of the Royal Urn and the Royal Cremation Ceremony on December 16. Ceremonies for the Royal Ashes will continue from December 17 to 19, concluding with their ceremonial conveyance and enshrinement at designated royal and religious sites.
The committee also approved revisions to four public relations subcommittees. Communications will convey Her Majesty’s royal benevolence and present Thailand’s arts, culture, traditional wisdom, and craftsmanship to audiences at home and abroad, with government agencies, broadcasters, and media organizations coordinating coverage throughout the ceremonial period.
