PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya residents were keeping an eye on the skies overnight after rain and thunderstorms moved across parts of the city and surrounding areas, with weather conditions continuing to point towards more showers. Reports from residents late Monday evening described light rain in Nongprue, Naklua, Nong Pla Lai, Jomtien, and other areas, while heavier rain was reported in Laem Chabang. Thunder and lightning were also heard and seen in some locations.
The Thailand Meteorological Department forecast scattered to fairly widespread thunderstorms and isolated heavy rain across Chonburi and other parts of the eastern region on September 21–22. The department said winds in the East could reach 15–35 kilometers per hour, with waves of 1–2 meters and higher during thunderstorms.
A TMD weather map shows the prevailing wind pattern carrying cloud and rain towards the Pattaya area, putting the city on alert for further showers through the night and into Tuesday. The latest seven-day outlook also calls for continued thunderstorms and isolated heavy rain across the eastern region, with the possibility of very heavy rain increasing later in the week.
Residents and visitors should be prepared for sudden downpours, particularly in low-lying areas where rainwater can accumulate quickly. Motorists are advised to take extra care when roads become wet and visibility falls. Pattaya residents were also invited to share local weather reports, with evening updates showing showers developing across several parts of the wider Pattaya area.
