BANGKOK, Thailand – The MRT Blue and Purple Lines resumed normal service at all stations at 5:37 a.m. on September 21, 2026, after overnight repairs to the power supply and signaling systems. The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) said an electrical short circuit on the MRT Blue Line between Tao Poon and Bang Pho stations caused the disruption at 12:22 p.m. on September 20. Train services between Bang O and Kamphaeng Phet stations were temporarily suspended while technical teams repaired the system and conducted safety inspections.
Officials repaired damaged electrical cables, the power rail, and signaling equipment, then performed comprehensive checks to confirm the system was safe and fully operational. After repairs and safety assessments were completed, full train services resumed across the network on Monday morning. MRTA stated it will collaborate with the concessionaire to review further preventive measures to reduce the risk of similar incidents and maintain public confidence in the system. (NNT)
