TOKYO, Japan – Government Public Relations Department (PRD) Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem and Thai Media Fund Manager Dr. Thanakorn Srisuksai have met executives from NHK and JIJI Press in Tokyo to discuss expanded media cooperation between Thailand and Japan. Their September 17-19 visit involves knowledge exchange, content production and distribution, professional development, and potential joint projects.
During talks with NHK, the delegation explored cooperation on educational and creative programming for children and young people, including content exchanges, joint productions, and training for media professionals. The PRD also presented its network of young Thai reporters in Japan who produce news and programs with NBT World, while discussing greater accessibility of media content for individuals with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
Talks with JIJI Press covered a possible memorandum of understanding on news and information exchanges, joint reporting, and cross-platform distribution. The two sides also discussed producing special interviews with prominent figures for the 140th anniversary of Thailand-Japan diplomatic relations in 2027, presenting perspectives on bilateral ties and their future development.
The Thai Media Fund and JIJI Press also explored crisis-reporting training for Thai journalists, drawing on international expertise to improve the accuracy, timeliness, and responsibility of coverage. Cooperation with both Japanese organizations is expected to expand professional exchanges, improve the quality and accessibility of Thai media, and create more opportunities for Thai-produced content to reach audiences abroad.
