RAYONG, Thailand – A two-year-old boy was briefly trapped inside a car after accidentally pressing the door-lock button while his mother had stepped away to buy food near a temple in Ban Phe, Rayong, on September 10. Ban Phe police received a request for help and sent mechanic officer Witthaya Suwanpricha to the scene outside Wat Nai Rai in Phe District.
The car was left running with the boy inside. Police found the child standing on the front seat and looking out through the window while his mother waited anxiously outside. Witthaya used a wire through the window gap to reach the door-lock mechanism. After about three minutes, he managed to release the lock and open the door, allowing the mother to quickly retrieve her son.
The mother said she had parked the car, left the engine running with her son inside and stepped away briefly to buy food. She believed the boy had accidentally pressed the lock button, causing all the doors to lock. She thanked the police officer for arriving quickly and helping free her son. Witthaya said he immediately went to the scene after receiving the call for assistance.
