BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai labour and immigration authorities arrested eight foreigners during an inspection at Rong Kip Moo Market in Min Buri on September 9. Two were charged with working without a work permit under Section 8 of the Emergency Decree on the Management of Foreign Workers, while four Cambodian nationals were charged with entering and remaining in Thailand without permission under Section 81 of the Immigration Act.
Two Cambodian women were additionally charged with remaining in Thailand after their permission to stay had expired. All eight were taken to Min Buri Police Station for legal proceedings. Authorities also reminded employers and foreign workers of Thailand’s employment and immigration laws and the penalties for violations.
