PATTAYA, Thailand – A homeless man was detained on Pattaya Beach after allegedly disturbing tourists and causing repeated problems in the area, with suspected methamphetamine, drug-use equipment and a knife reportedly found in his possession on September 9.
Pattaya municipal officers were called to deal with the man’s behavior after he allegedly disturbed tourists in the beach area. During the intervention, one municipal officer was reportedly confronted and nearly assaulted while attempting to warn the man about his conduct.
Members of the public who live and work nearby stepped in to help control the situation and prevent it from escalating further. Pattaya municipal officers then contacted Pattaya City Police, who arrived to assist and ensure the situation did not develop into further trouble. A search reportedly found a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, drug-use equipment and a knife. The man was subsequently taken into custody and handed over to police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
During the incident, the man reportedly told those present that he had purchased methamphetamine for 25 baht per tablet. The claim shocked members of the public who heard it, given the reportedly low price. Officials said the man was known to use drugs in public areas and had repeatedly caused disturbances affecting tourists in the area. The case was handed over to Pattaya City Police for further legal action.
