NEW DELHI, India – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Suphajee Suthumpun visited Erawaan, a Thai SELECT 1-Star restaurant at The Claridges New Delhi, on September 9 to discuss opportunities to promote Thai cuisine and expand demand for Thai products in India. Erawaan serves modern Thai fine dining, combining traditional flavors with contemporary presentation in a setting influenced by Thai art, the Ramayana, and Mandala motifs. Thai Master Chef Tarathip Nooriengsai, who has about 21 years of culinary experience with The Claridges, oversees a menu featuring dishes such as Tom Yum, Tom Kha, red curry, and Pad Thai.
Erawaan holds Thai SELECT 1-Star certification from Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce and received the Best Thai Premium Dining award at the Times Food & Nightlife Awards 2026. Suphajee said Thai restaurants overseas are considered an important avenue for increasing demand for Thai jasmine rice, seasonings, herbs, fruits, vegetables, and other food products while promoting Thai culture through cuisine.
India currently has 15 Thai SELECT-certified restaurants: five at the 2-Star level, six at the 1-Star level, and four in the Casual category. Four are in New Delhi, including Erawaan, while Spice Route, OKO Restaurant, and Neung Roi are certified in the Casual category. The Department of International Trade Promotion uses the Thai SELECT program to promote high-quality Thai dining overseas and to create broader commercial opportunities for Thai producers and exporters.
