PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya municipal officials and social welfare authorities stepped in after a young girl was found near the ibis Pattaya hotel on Sept. 8, with the child now under the care process of Chonburi’s child and family protection authorities. Pattaya municipal officers, working with officials from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security in Chonburi, went to the area after receiving a report concerning a young girl found near the hotel.
Initial checks confirmed that the child was a girl. Authorities then referred the case to the Chonburi Child and Family Home, which is handling the matter and arranging assistance and care in accordance with relevant procedures. Officials did not immediately disclose the girl’s age, identity or circumstances, and no information was provided indicating how long she had been in the area or why she was there. The case was reported through Pattaya’s 1337 municipal hotline, prompting officials to inspect the situation and coordinate with social welfare authorities.
The Chonburi Child and Family Home will now assess the child’s circumstances and provide appropriate protection and assistance under the procedures for children requiring care. The incident highlights the role of local authorities and social welfare agencies in responding when children are found in potentially vulnerable circumstances in public areas. Authorities said the child would not be left without assistance while the relevant agencies work through the case.
