BANGKOK, Thailand – Firefighters brought a blaze under control within six minutes after fire broke out inside a two-storey building being demolished in Bangkok’s Charoen Krung 13 area on Sunday afternoon. The fire was reported at 2:42 p.m. on September 6, prompting crews from Suan Mali Fire and Rescue Station and nearby stations to rush to the scene. Firefighters arrived to find the two-storey structure, which was in the process of being demolished, on fire. They immediately deployed three water hoses to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby areas.
The blaze was brought under control at 2:55 p.m., with firefighters confirming the fire was fully extinguished one minute later at 2:56 p.m. The old building had reportedly been left unoccupied while awaiting demolition and redevelopment, with the area fenced off. There were no reports of residents being trapped inside. One volunteer responder was reportedly injured by broken glass and taken for medical treatment. No other injuries were reported. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt later visited the area to monitor the situation. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the damage.
