NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Thailand – Minister of Social Development and Human Security Nikorn Soemklang visited Nakhon Ratchasima on September 5 to distribute welfare benefits to vulnerable groups and promote the ministry’s eight-pillar policy for equal opportunity. The Minister, joined by Deputy Governor Banlank Waisiri and ministry executives, visited local administrative organizations in the districts of Nong Bun Mak, Chok Chai, Khon Buri, and Soeng Sang. The delegation listened to community concerns, monitored ongoing initiatives, and provided direct assistance to the elderly, people with disabilities, and those experiencing social hardship.
During the visits, the delegation provided social support, including financial aid for vulnerable households, wheelchairs, and disability identification cards. The ministry also offered occupational loans to people with disabilities and their caregivers, funded community family development centers, and provided home-modification subsidies to ensure safe living environments for the elderly and people with disabilities. These initiatives aim to promote self-reliance, income generation, and equitable access to state services.
The Minister stated that the visits were intended to gather firsthand information to enhance the ministry’s proactive strategies at the provincial level. He highlighted the government’s shift from simply providing aid to actively creating opportunities and serving as a reliable support system for citizens of all ages. This approach depends on close collaboration with local administrative networks and social development volunteers to identify at-risk households and ensure comprehensive access to state welfare programs.
