CHUMPHON, Thailand – Two men have been arrested after Highway Police found about 40,000 methamphetamine tablets hidden in concealed compartments of their car during a roadside search in Chumphon. The arrests were carried out by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), through the Highway Police Division, following a suspicious driving pattern that caught officers’ attention.
The suspects, identified as a 47-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, were travelling in a car that was repeatedly driving around the area in a manner officers considered suspicious. Police stopped the vehicle and conducted a search, discovering methamphetamine tablets concealed in storage areas and specially modified secret compartments inside the car.
About 40,000 tablets were seized as evidence.
The two suspects were arrested on charges of jointly possessing and distributing a Category 1 narcotic for the purpose of distribution, as well as drug use and driving while under the influence of drugs. They were taken to Ban Map Ammarit Police Station for further questioning and legal proceedings. The case remains under investigation as authorities work to establish the source of the drugs and determine whether others were involved in the alleged trafficking operation.
