PATTAYA, Thailand – Mayor Poramet Ngampichet has ordered immediate improvements to an access route on Sukhumvit Road at the Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disabilities in Chonburi (Father Ray Foundation) after finding that an unpaved entrance was making it difficult for children and people with disabilities, particularly wheelchair users, to enter and leave the facility safely.

Poramet, accompanied by Pattaya City administrators, council members, the mayor’s secretary and assistant secretaries, inspected the site on Aug. 28, to assess the condition of the route and listen to concerns from those using the facility. The entrance area is currently an unpaved section undergoing construction, creating obstacles for people trying to reach the foundation. The uneven surface is particularly challenging for wheelchair users and children.

During the inspection, Poramet instructed relevant departments to find an immediate temporary solution to improve the walkway before the wider construction work is completed. He stressed that children and people with disabilities should be able to access the facility conveniently and safely, and asked officials to remove immediate obstacles that could interfere with their daily activities.

Pattaya City officials were also told to monitor the improvements continuously and ensure that access remains safe and usable until the construction work is fully completed. The inspection reflects Pattaya City’s focus on improving accessibility at public facilities and ensuring that people with disabilities can move around the city without facing unnecessary barriers.

Mayor Poramet listens to concerns during a site inspection and orders officials to make immediate improvements to the walkway for safer, easier access.
