Phuket teen music star Nene returns home ahead of final

Phuket’s 16-year-old music sensation Nene Royal returns home to a hero’s welcome after winning a Golden Buzzer, with the young star now preparing for the Sept. 22 final.

PHUKET, Thailand – Sixteen-year-old guitarist and singer Nene Royal returned to Phuket on Aug. 28 to a warm welcome from local officials, fans and media after securing a place in the final of an international talent competition. Nene, whose real name is Praew Rattikarn Amloy, arrived at Phuket International Airport at about 9:40 p.m. with her family. Phuket Governor Chotnarin Kerdsom, Tourism Authority of Thailand Phuket Office Director Siriwan Singharat, Phuket International Airport Director Monchai Tanoed and a large group of supporters were there to welcome her home.



Nene thanked fans for their continued encouragement and said receiving the Golden Buzzer was one of her dreams that had come true. She said she plans to devote her time in Thailand to intensive rehearsals ahead of the final, asking supporters to continue cheering for her and voting as she prepares to deliver her best performance. The young musician will also temporarily stop performing at the Talad Tai Rot Naka market while she concentrates on preparing for the final.

Despite her demanding schedule, Nene said she is also looking forward to returning to school. She has been away from classes for some time and said she misses her friends, who have also been sending her messages of encouragement. She plans to return to school on Monday. Fans can also expect to see Nene perform again with Ozone, the band she formed with younger musicians. She said the younger members have helped her rehearse and supported her throughout the competition.


Nene said she loves all of the band members and confirmed that there will be opportunities to see them perform together again. Nene Royal has attracted widespread attention after progressing through the audition and Judges’ Callbacks stages into the Live Shows. During Quarterfinals 2, she made headlines when judge Mel B pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending the young Phuket musician directly through to the final. The final is scheduled for Sept. 22, when Nene will have the opportunity to showcase her talent on an international stage.

Nene Royal says she is excited to return to school on Monday, admitting she misses her classmates after spending months away while pursuing her dream on the international stage.
