BANGKOK, Thailand – Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Adul Boonthamcharoen called on future leaders to adopt a forward-looking mindset as participants in the National Defence Course for Future Leaders (NDCFL), Class 3, presented their study findings in Bangkok on Aug 28. The presentation at the National Defense Studies Institute introduced the “THAIs Roadmap,” summarizing five national capabilities considered essential to Thailand’s development over the next 15 years.
Public Health Minister Pattana Promphat and fellow course participants presented the roadmap under the concept “Five Forces, One Future.” The five areas cover technology, human capital, energy and resources, infrastructure, and security and resilience, recognizing the growing links among economic, social, technological, and security challenges. The framework also addresses emerging threats that can develop rapidly, become severe, cross borders, and occur unexpectedly.
The findings were developed using the “THAIs Corpus,” a database drawing on all 230 academic studies produced by NDCFL Class 3, as well as material related to the National Strategy, government policies, academic research, and operational experience. Artificial intelligence was used to identify patterns and connections across the information, supporting human analysis and decision-making rather than determining policy.
Lt. Gen. Adul urged future leaders to turn technology, knowledge, and existing resources into practical capabilities for sectors, including industry and agriculture, while considering the long-term consequences of their decisions. He also called for lifelong learning and for national and public interests to guide leadership.
