PATTAYA, Thailand – A troop of Pattaya municipal officers and police marched down Pattaya Beach Road, tickets in hand, putting illegal parkers on notice during a coordinated operation to reclaim public parking spaces. The officials moved along the beachfront checking vehicles parked on red-and-white and yellow-and-white curbs, where parking is prohibited, and identifying spaces that had been reserved or occupied for private use. The operation also targeted the unauthorized use of public parking spaces by businesses, including areas being used for vehicle rentals or claimed for private customers.

Officials reminded motorists and businesses that public parking is for everyone and cannot be reserved, occupied or turned into private commercial space without permission. Drivers found violating parking restrictions face fines under the law, while unauthorized commercial use of public space could lead to further legal action. The highly visible patrol is part of Pattaya’s continuing effort to bring greater order to the beachfront and ensure residents and tourists can use public spaces fairly.
