MUKDAHAN, Thailand – Police smashed through a window to rescue a woman who had locked herself inside a house while heavily intoxicated and distressed over relationship problems, intervening moments before she could seriously harm herself. The incident happened at about 9:10 p.m. on August 17, when Don Tan Police Station received a report of a woman crying and saying she no longer wanted to live. The incident was reported at Sakon Fresh Fish Shop behind the Don Tan municipal market in Don Tan district, Mukdahan.

A patrol team and a prevention and suppression duty officer rushed to the scene, where witnesses said the woman, identified as Busarin Pansriha, was an employee at the shop. Police found her alone inside the house after she had reportedly locked herself in while heavily intoxicated and emotionally distressed. Concerned witnesses contacted police after hearing her make statements indicating she did not want to continue living.

Officers first contacted the property owner and asked for a spare key, but none was available. With permission from the owner, police broke through a window to gain entry. The officers then rushed inside and managed to stop the woman at a critical moment, preventing her from harming herself.

Once the situation was under control, police contacted an emergency medical team from Don Tan Hospital. The woman was taken to the hospital for medical assessment and treatment under close medical supervision.

Authorities reminded the public that people experiencing severe emotional distress should not be left alone. Anyone who needs someone to talk to can contact Thailand’s Mental Health Hotline at 1323, available free of charge 24 hours a day.
