Thailand unveils national science fair with AI and sustainability focus

Deputy PM Yodchanan Wongsawat highlights AI, innovation and sustainability at the National Science and Technology Fair 2026 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat recently announced that Thailand is prepared to host the “National Science and Technology Fair 2026.” The event, themed “Intelligence in Science for a Sustainable Future,” is being held from August 15-23, 2026, at Halls 9–11, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. ​At the press conference, MHESI Permanent Secretary Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul and Acting Director of the National Science Museum (NSM) Suwarong Wongsiri emphasized the event’s goal to use science to address societal challenges and strengthen Thailand’s skilled workforce.

​The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted MHESI’s commitment to developing a workforce with 21st-century skills, especially in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The fair aims to inspire Thai youth to use AI creatively and ethically, supporting sustainable economic and social growth. He added that the event, which honors King Mongkut (Rama IV) as the Father of Thai Science, seeks to turn laboratory research into practical solutions for communities and industry.


Prof. Dr. Supachai noted that the fair includes collaborations with more than 96 organizations from eight countries, such as China, Germany, and Japan. Featured exhibitions include “AI Revolution: The New Human Edge,” “Rare Earth: The Invisible Power,” and interactive displays from MHESI agencies. The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) will also present preparations for the “CE-7 MATCH” payload, which will participate in a lunar exploration mission this month.

NSM Acting Director Suwarong confirmed that the venue will offer interactive activities, Science Labs, and Coding and AI workshops for all ages. To increase public access, Regional Science Fairs will also take place at Maejo University in Chiang Mai and Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University from August 18 to 20. ​Additionally, Thailand is strengthening its position as an Asia-Pacific hub for scientific learning by hosting two major international assemblies: INTEDIF 2026 and the ASPAC Conference 2026, which will bring together executives and experts from 20 countries.
