PATTAYA, Thailand – Russian residents and other foreign nationals joined local residents at Huai Yai Police Station on Monday, August 17, to show their support for officers and strengthen cooperation between police and the area’s growing international community. The meeting, held at 11 a.m., gave Thai and foreign residents an opportunity to meet directly with Pol. Col. Warawut Nitayawan, chief of Huai Yai Police Station, exchange views and discuss ways to help maintain safety in the Huai Yai area.

The gathering took place in a warm and constructive atmosphere, with foreign residents expressing their support for police officers and sharing concerns and suggestions about issues that could affect the community. The open discussion was intended to improve understanding between police and foreign residents while giving both sides an opportunity to ask questions directly. Food and drinking water were also provided free of charge to participants, with meals and snacks supported by the Chao Mae Thapthim Sak Ngaew Association, adding a community spirit to the meeting.

A key part of the event focused on helping foreigners identify genuine police officers and avoid potential scams or impersonation. Officers explained how to check police uniforms, identification insignia and official ID cards, while also demonstrating a QR-code system that can be used to verify an officer’s information.

Huai Yai police explain how foreigners can verify a genuine police officer’s identity, including checking official identification and using a QR code and the Police Care application.

Foreign residents were also introduced to the Police Care application, which provides another way to check police information and increase confidence when contacting officers. The information was particularly welcomed by Russian participants, who said knowing how to verify an officer’s identity would make them feel more confident when seeking assistance or dealing with police.

The meeting comes amid efforts to strengthen relations between Huai Yai police and the area’s foreign community. Rather than simply responding when problems occur, the approach encourages residents and police to communicate directly and work together to prevent problems before they escalate.

For the foreign community, the message was equally clear: knowing who to contact, how to verify an officer and how to communicate with police can make it easier to seek help when needed.

The meeting ended with a shared emphasis on cooperation, communication and mutual understanding as important elements in keeping Huai Yai safe and welcoming for both local residents and international visitors.
