BANGKOK, Thailand — Thailand’s tourism and police leadership are examining mobile command and drone technology designed to strengthen tourist safety, surveillance and operational coordination across the country. Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun and Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul joined senior Tourist Police officials for a government inspection and meeting at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports on August 14. The delegation included Tourist Police Bureau Commissioner Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Pheuk-am, Deputy Commissioner Pol. Maj. Gen. Krit Warith, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Danu Klamsum, commander of Tourist Police Division 1, together with ministry executives and senior government officials.

During the inspection, the officials visited the Command and Control Operations Center (CCOC) mobile vehicle and a UAV mobile drone unit, examining technology and equipment used to support tourism-related operations. The mobile CCOC unit provides a field-based command and coordination capability, allowing officials to bring operational support closer to areas where tourist activity and security monitoring are required. The UAV mobile unit provides another layer of operational capability through drone technology, which can assist authorities with monitoring and gathering information from areas that are difficult to observe from the ground.

The inspection formed part of a wider meeting and official review at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, with senior officials discussing tourism administration and operational readiness.

The participation of the Tourism Ministry and Tourist Police leadership reflects closer coordination between tourism authorities and law enforcement in using technology to improve tourist safety and the ability to respond to situations in major visitor destinations.
