PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet is following progress on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports for three proposed light rail lines aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving public transport connections across the city. The projects cover the Green Line, Red Line and Purple Line, forming part of Pattaya’s long-term plans to develop a more comprehensive mass-transit network and prepare for future urban growth.
The EIA reports are currently being updated, with officials gathering additional information and making revisions to address requirements before the next stage of the process. Pattaya City is expected to hold additional public consultation meetings between September and November 2026, allowing residents and stakeholders to provide further feedback on the proposed projects.
Following the consultation process, the city expects to submit the completed EIA report to Thailand’s Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) in January 2027. The three proposed lines are intended to strengthen connections between different parts of Pattaya, provide residents and visitors with additional transport options and help reduce pressure on the city’s increasingly busy road network. City officials say moving the EIA process forward is an important step toward developing a mass-transit system capable of supporting Pattaya’s continued growth.
