PATTAYA, Thailand – Five people were injured after an SUV and a pickup truck collided near a railway crossing in east Pattaya, on Sunday night. The accident was reported on August 9 on the road running alongside the railway tracks near the Nongprue intersection. Rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a serious collision.
A grey Honda CR-V SUV was found with severe damage to its front end. Four people inside the vehicle were injured, including 44-year-old driver Thanachot. All suffered bruising and other injuries from the impact. A grey Toyota Hilux Revo pickup was also heavily damaged, particularly along its left side. Its 57-year-old driver, Suthin, was injured in the collision. Rescue workers provided first aid before taking all five injured people to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
The SUV driver told authorities that he was unfamiliar with the area and had been travelling with two friends and his girlfriend when they reached the accident site. He reportedly said the area was dark and he could not see the traffic signals before the SUV collided heavily with the pickup travelling along the main road. Police documented the scene and collected evidence while the injured parties received medical treatment. Further investigation will determine the exact circumstances of the collision and whether any legal action is required.
