PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City has installed 20 new LED streetlights at Ban Mankong Community, Khao Noi, East Pattaya, to address dark areas, improve visibility, and increase safety for residents. Mayor Poramet Ngampichet visited the community to oversee the installation and replacement of older lighting fixtures with new LED lamps.
Mayor Poramet said Pattaya continues to upgrade its citywide lighting system as part of efforts to improve public safety and protect residents’ lives and property. The city has gradually replaced older lighting equipment with more efficient LED technology in several areas to provide brighter and more reliable illumination. The Ban Mankong Community project followed complaints from residents and coordination with local council members over insufficient lighting in the area. Initially, officials faced questions regarding the status of internal roads because of possible involvement of a private juristic entity. After inspection, the roads were confirmed to be public roads, allowing the city to proceed with the installation.
A total of 20 LED lamps have been installed from more than 30 existing poles within the community. The city will monitor lighting conditions at night and consider additional installations if some areas remain insufficiently illuminated. Residents who encounter areas with insufficient lighting or other city service issues can contact the Pattaya Contact Center at 1337 for assistance. Mayor Poramet said Pattaya aims to use its budget efficiently by installing lighting based on actual needs and suitability of each location. The same approach is being applied across the city.
Ban Mankong Community is a densely populated residential area with residents from various occupations. Pattaya City said improving lighting there is not only an infrastructure upgrade but also part of efforts to enhance quality of life and provide greater confidence in safety for local residents.
