BANGKOK, Thailand – Their Majesties the King and Queen presided over the opening of the “Royal Project 57” exhibition at CentralWorld shopping center in Bangkok on August 1. The event, organized under the theme “The Blooming Legacy of Royal Flora,” highlights the continued success and sustainable development of Thailand’s highland agriculture. Upon arrival, Their Majesties were welcomed by Privy Councilor and Royal Project Foundation Chairman General Kampanat Ruddit, as well as executives from Kasetsart University and Central Pattana Public Company Limited.
Held from August 1 to 12, the exhibition celebrates His Majesty the King and marks Her Majesty the Queen’s 48th birthday. It also honors Their Majesties and pays tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, founder of the Royal Project Foundation, and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, who provided ongoing support for its work.
During the event, Their Majesties attended commemorative performances and viewed five exhibitions outlining the project’s progress from replacing opium cultivation to promoting biodiversity and highland agriculture. A key highlight was the unveiling of the “Queen Suthida” rose, developed through the foundation’s research and breeding programs. His Majesty the King authorized the new rose variety to be named in honor of Her Majesty the Queen to celebrate her birthday on June 3, 2026.
Their Majesties also toured exhibition booths showcasing over 3,000 items from the Royal Project and related royal initiatives. Displays featured premium winter flowers, highland produce such as cherry chocolate tomatoes and native rice varieties, as well as handicrafts, health beverages, and organic skincare products. This diverse range reflects the royal commitment to advancing the Royal Project, supporting environmental conservation, fostering sustainable livelihoods, and improving the quality of life for highland communities.
