PATTAYA, Thailand – More than 500 cyclists took to the roads around Pattaya on August 2 as Nongprue Municipality hosted its 2026 Cycling for Health Competition, promoting active lifestyles while showcasing a challenging 65-kilometer route across four municipalities. The event began at Mabprachan Reservoir in Nongprue, where Nongprue Mayor Winai Inpithak officially opened the competition. Municipal officials, organizers, athletes and cycling enthusiasts gathered for the annual event, which drew strong participation from riders across the region. The competition forms part of Nongprue Municipality’s ongoing campaign to encourage healthier lifestyles through community-based exercise. The municipality has promoted cycling under its “Nongprue City Bike” initiative since 2022, with growing public support each year. This year’s event attracted 566 cyclists, competing in men’s and women’s road bike and mountain bike categories.

Riders tackled a scenic 65-kilometer course passing through four local municipalities—Nongprue, Pong, Huai Yai and Khao Chi Chan—offering a challenging route while highlighting the area’s natural landscapes and local communities. Organizers said the event aims to inspire people of all ages to make cycling part of their daily lives, while encouraging children, young people and families to embrace healthier habits through regular exercise. Beyond promoting fitness, the annual cycling competition also strengthens community ties, provides a positive recreational activity and continues to establish Nongprue as a destination for sports and outdoor events.
