PATTAYA, Thailand – A Pattaya ride-hailing driver has shared a warning to tourists after posting a video claiming two foreign women approached an intoxicated tourist and attempted to lead him away from a roadside pickup area toward a darker section near the beach. The driver posted the video in a Facebook group on July 29, warning visitors to be cautious after the alleged incident.
According to his post, he was attempting to find passengers when he noticed two foreign women approaching a male tourist who appeared heavily intoxicated. The driver claimed the women hugged and held onto the tourist before attempting to pull him away from the area. The driver said the tourist appeared unable to respond clearly due to his condition and was wearing valuable jewellery, including a large necklace. He claimed the women tried to guide the tourist toward a darker section near the beach, despite the tourist appearing to resist and trying to walk away.
“I am not trying to discriminate,” the driver wrote in his warning, saying his concern was based on the behavior he witnessed and the vulnerability of the tourist. The video has drawn attention among Pattaya residents and visitors, with some expressing concerns over the safety of tourists who become intoxicated and may be vulnerable to theft or other incidents in crowded nightlife areas.
The incident has also renewed discussion about ongoing efforts by authorities to monitor tourist zones, including Beach Road and other popular nightlife areas, where officials have previously carried out operations to prevent disturbances and protect visitors. No official police report confirming any crime has been released, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Authorities have not confirmed the identities of the individuals involved or whether any offence occurred. Tourists are advised to take care of personal belongings, avoid walking alone while heavily intoxicated, and seek assistance from friends, hotel staff, or authorities when needed.
