PATTAYA, Thailand – Seven enthusiastic golfers teed it up at Pattavia Golf Course on Tuesday, July 21, enjoying partly overcast skies, a gentle breeze and ideal playing conditions. Although the prolonged dry spell had begun to take its toll on the fairways, with patches of yellow appearing, the course remained in excellent playing condition. The slick greens once again proved to be the day’s toughest challenge.

Scoring was impressive across the field, with every player returning more than 30 Stableford points. Peter Chai Tsjai stole the show with a superb 41-point winning round, comfortably taking first place. Willem Lasonder finished second on 38 points after surviving a late challenge from Neil Harvey, whose strong finish forced Willem to hole a nervy one-metre putt on the final green to secure the runner-up spot. Ian Lingard accepted the wooden spoon in good spirits, while Peter Chai Tsjai claimed one near pin and Dave Smith collected the other two.

Thursday, July 23, was less about competition and more about celebration as the MyBar Golf Society marked Dave Smith’s birthday in style. Dave generously invited a large field to Pattaya Country Club, with enough players to fill eight flights, and the weather responded with perfect golfing conditions for the occasion.

The celebrations continued back at MyBar, where golfers enjoyed plenty of refreshments, an excellent buffet and a selection of outstanding birthday cakes. The society extends its sincere thanks to Dave Smith for his generosity and to Don and the team at MyBar for putting on another memorable spread that rounded off a thoroughly enjoyable day.
