BANGKOK, Thailand – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Royal Thai Police have launched a citywide campaign to inspect more than 1,100 entertainment venues and similar establishments within 60 days, using a unified 17-point safety checklist. Residents are also encouraged to report safety concerns through Traffy Fondue. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and Royal Thai Police Deputy Commissioner-General Police General Thatchai Pitaneelaboot inspected establishments in the Thong Lo–Ekkamai area. The operation brings together BMA departments, district offices, police, and related agencies to strengthen safety standards and public confidence.

The Bangkok Governor said the standardized inspection process would reduce duplication and prevent confusion among operators. The checklist combines the Thai Police’s fire-safety checklist with BMA requirements, covering building structures, electrical and fire-protection systems, emergency exits, decorative materials, and emergency-response measures. The inspections will continue through periodic spot checks, as hazards may emerge afterward, including blocked exits, damaged emergency lighting, or obscured exit signs. Residents may use Traffy Fondue to report locked or obstructed exits, deteriorated electrical systems, and other safety risks. More than 21 reports have already been submitted.

Authorities will prioritize high-risk venues, heavily attended establishments, and locations with previous complaints. Maximum occupancy limits will also be introduced to prevent overcrowding during emergencies. The BMA is additionally working with the Royal Thai Police and the Ministry of Interior to review longstanding entertainment-venue and zoning laws, including venue definitions, safety standards, and designated operating areas.
