Japanese performers and around 50 Thai children will share the stage in Bangkok, using music therapy to support vulnerable youth and promote child protection.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Bangkok is preparing to host the “Starlight Charity Concert,” a free event that will combine performances by Japanese artists and Thai youth while promoting music therapy for children. The concert will be held on August 2 at the Bangkok Planetarium Auditorium. Organized by the Department of Learning Encouragement, the Kind Angels Association, Tambun Project, MAST Human, INGON, and the Place of Grace Foundation, the concert is the centerpiece of the “Music as a Safe Space” project. The program uses music therapy to support children affected by poverty, domestic violence, neglect, and other difficult life experiences. Acclaimed Japanese performers Hiroko Miyano, Yukako Niizuma, and special guest Hanayo Kimura will perform alongside about 50 Thai children from vulnerable communities.

The week-long program begins on July 28 with music therapy workshops at the Place of Grace Foundation, followed by workshops at the Bangkok Planetarium on July 29. On July 30, participating children will rehearse Thai and Japanese songs with the Horwang Orchestra at Horwang School, before taking part in a music therapy workshop in the Khlong Toei community on July 31. A full rehearsal on Aug. 1 at the Bangkok Planetarium will unite the Japanese artists, youth from the Place of Grace Foundation, and the Horwang Orchestra. The program concludes on Aug. 2 with the concert, where about 50 children will perform alongside the visiting artists. The project is expected to help raise public awareness of child protection while encouraging continued support for safe spaces and opportunities for vulnerable children. Admission is free, and those wishing to attend are encouraged to reserve seats in advance at https://docs.google.com/…/1FAIpQLScipi0ORQZMku…/viewform. (NNT)
