BANGKOK, Thailand – The Embassy of France in Thailand has hosted a reception to celebrate France’s National Day and the 170th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Thailand. Hosted by French Ambassador to Thailand Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, the event was also attended by Thai government representatives led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, the French community, and other distinguished guests.

Ambassador Poimboeuf described 2026 as a milestone year for bilateral relations, citing Their Majesties the King and Queen’s state visit to France in June—the first official visit by a Thai monarch to France in more than six decades—as well as Anutin’s official visits to France.

The French ambassador reaffirmed France’s commitment to expanding its partnership with Thailand through the Thailand–France Joint Action Plan, which seeks to deepen cooperation in innovation, digital transformation, cybersecurity, energy transition, education, and research while advancing toward a strategic partnership. The reception also featured commemorative activities, including the unveiling of a joint postage stamp by France’s La Poste and Thailand Post, the launch of a special publication, and exhibitions showcasing France-Thailand cooperation in investment, technology, industry, and sustainable development.
