LOEI, Thailand – Entertainment venues in Loei province have seen customers disappear by more than 90% following the deadly fire at the Bangkok beer hall that claimed 30 lives and injured dozens more. Owners of nightlife businesses in Mueang Loei district said venues that were normally busy became unusually quiet as customers stayed away following the tragedy at the Lat Phrao beer hall in Bangkok. One entertainment venue owner said the sudden drop was caused by public concern and fear after images of the devastating fire spread nationwide.
The operator said the venue already follows safety measures, including clearly marked emergency exits, evacuation plans displayed inside the premises, high ceilings and electrical wiring installed through protective conduits. The owner expressed sympathy for those who lost their lives and those injured, saying no business wants to see such a tragedy occur. However, the incident should serve as a warning for all entertainment operators to review their safety standards, including fire extinguishers, electrical systems and emergency evacuation procedures. The owner also called on authorities to maintain strict inspections and ensure all venues meet required safety standards to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
