
BANGKOK, Thailand – Dr. Vajratiya Vajrobol, Senior Computer Scientist at the Public Relations Department’s Digital Technology Division, has received the Global Winner award at the Global iSAFE Hackathon 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland. She received international recognition for developing Fake News Deep Verify, a real-time bilingual artificial intelligence application designed to combat misinformation. The competition, part of the World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2026, was supported by the International Telecommunication Union, the CyberPeace Foundation, and Google.org. The event challenged developers, researchers, and tech entrepreneurs globally to build trustworthy generative AI that defends truth, protects citizens, and promotes online peace. The hackathon received over 1,700 entries from more than 80 countries.
Fake News Deep Verify uses artificial intelligence and large language models to assess the credibility of information in Thai and English. It offers real-time verification and displays reference sources, helping the public quickly evaluate news accuracy, limit misinformation, and enhance digital media literacy. This achievement demonstrates Thailand’s global strength in artificial intelligence development. It also affirms the Public Relations Department’s commitment to advancing technological skills to support the government’s policy of verifying information and combating fake news. (NNT)
