
SURIN, Thailand – Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Adul Boonthumjaroen visited Surin province to assess progress on a border security project to upgrade water, electricity, road, and telecommunications infrastructure. During the visit, Suranaree Force Commander Major General Boonserm Boonbamrung and local commanders briefed the minister on regional security operations and development progress.
The infrastructure initiative aims to improve the quality of life for military personnel and border residents, while increasing the efficiency of security operations. The defense minister stressed that national security should advance alongside community development and personnel welfare. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing essential utilities and suitable living standards for troops, enabling them to perform at their best while safeguarding national sovereignty.
During the inspection, the minister reviewed the disbursement of Special Combat Pay to ensure personnel in high-risk areas receive their benefits accurately and promptly, supporting troop morale. The Minister directed agencies to coordinate and expedite the infrastructure project to deliver tangible improvements in security, development, and public welfare. This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to strengthening border areas and supporting the rights, welfare, and morale of personnel safeguarding national sovereignty.
