AYUTTHAYA, Thailand – A group of elephants from the Wang Chang Ayutthaya Lae Paniad has captured the hearts of social media users after calmly stopping at a red traffic light alongside cars and motorcycles, earning praise for their surprising road discipline. The heartwarming moment was recorded by Facebook user Aunlove Love from a vehicle dashboard camera at the Wat Ratchapraditsathan intersection on Chikun Road in Phra Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya district. The footage showed a procession of elephants and their mahouts waiting patiently for the traffic signal to change, staying in their lane and not crossing the intersection or disrupting other road users.

The video owner, 45-year-old Worakrit, known as “Aun”, said he regularly sees the elephant procession using the route during both morning and evening hours. Despite heavy traffic, the elephants and mahouts consistently follow traffic rules. He shared the video with a message praising the elephants’ discipline, saying that even elephants understand the importance of stopping at red lights and encouraging people to respect traffic laws as well.

The clip quickly went viral, with many online users praising the intelligence of the elephants and the training of their mahouts. Some commented that the scene was a reminder that even elephants can follow traffic rules while some motorists continue to ignore them. Although it was a simple moment on an ordinary road, the image became a positive reminder that traffic discipline is a shared responsibility among all road users. The “Ayutthaya elephants” not only brought smiles to viewers but also delivered a meaningful message — waiting a few extra moments at a traffic light can help prevent accidents and protect lives.
