A solo motorcycle crash at the V.J. Mabprachan curve highlights the need for caution on East Pattaya roads, where unfamiliar riders and those inexperienced with motorbikes can face unexpected dangers.

PATTAYA, Thailand – A late-night motorcycle crash near Mabprachan Reservoir has raised another reminder about road safety in East Pattaya, where winding roads and unfamiliar routes can pose risks for riders, especially those who are not confident on two wheels. The incident happened on July 7 near the V.J. Mabprachan curve in Nongprue after rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon received an emergency call about a motorcycle accident nearby. Responders rushed to the scene with first-aid equipment and found a Thai man who had lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating the curve. Rescue workers said the rider appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

The man suffered cuts to his right index and ring fingers, along with scrapes on his arms, legs and body. Volunteers provided initial medical assistance and advised him to go to hospital for further treatment, including stitches for his wounds, but he declined. Police from Nongprue Police Station later assisted in taking him back to his accommodation. The crash serves as a warning for residents and visitors using East Pattaya roads, particularly those unfamiliar with the area or inexperienced with riding motorcycles in Thailand.

While motorbikes are a popular and convenient way to explore Pattaya and surrounding areas, roads around Mabprachan and the Nongprue area include curves, changing road conditions and less familiar routes that require extra care. Foreign residents and tourists who are not experienced motorcycle riders are advised to take extra precautions, wear helmets, avoid riding after drinking, and consider alternative transport options if they are not comfortable handling a motorbike.

East Pattaya’s quieter roads may appear easier than busy city streets, but unexpected hazards can quickly turn a relaxing ride into a dangerous situation.
