PATTAYA, Thailand – Quick action by municipal officers and police helped prevent a potential tragedy after an intoxicated woman entered the sea and began showing signs of distress near Central Pattaya Beach. The incident occurred on July 3, when Pattaya City municipal officers and Pattaya Police Station received reports from tourists that a woman appeared to be heavily intoxicated and had walked into the sea. Witnesses said she later showed signs of choking on seawater in the area opposite Central Pattaya shopping mall.
Rescue personnel from the municipal enforcement unit and police officers rushed to the scene immediately after being alerted. They entered into the situation and provided urgent assistance, bringing the woman back to safety and carrying out initial first aid on-site. Officials said the woman’s condition improved after receiving immediate assistance and monitoring. No serious injuries were reported.
Following the incident, relatives of the woman arrived at the scene and took her back to her accommodation. Authorities confirmed she was safely handed over to family members. Officials reminded the public and tourists to avoid entering the sea while under the influence of alcohol, warning that such behavior can quickly lead to life-threatening situations, especially along busy tourist beaches with strong currents and limited visibility at night. They also praised the quick response of officers and the public who alerted authorities, saying timely reporting played a key role in preventing a more serious outcome.
