KANCHANABURI, Thailand – Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchart Chomklin has directed the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) to restore the site of the demolished “Rai Rak Fah” Resort, which had illegally occupied land within Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi province. The reclaimed area will be redeveloped into a public nature tourism destination in full compliance with national park regulations. Suchart said the site will become a viewpoint, offering panoramic views of Srinagarind Dam, the surrounding mountain ranges, morning mist, and sunset. The DNP has also been instructed to restore the landscape, improve visitor safety, and ensure that every stage of the project complies with applicable laws and regulations.
Development of the area will avoid large permanent structures and instead use environmentally compatible materials that blend with the natural surroundings. Clearly designated visitor areas will help protect nearby ecosystems while allowing the forest to recover as an important watershed and wildlife habitat. Officials said visitor facilities will include an information and coordination center, additional national park patrol officers working with local police, designated nature trails and photography areas, and clear warning signs and directional markers.
