BRUSSELS, Belgium – Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun has led a government delegation to Brussels, Belgium, to meet with senior European Union officials and advance negotiations on the Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement. The visit also included discussions on expanding economic, trade, and investment cooperation. Both parties explored ways to deepen their economic partnership and improve supply chain resilience while seeking balanced market access for goods and investment, especially measures to support Thai agricultural products.
The European Union is Thailand’s fourth-largest trading partner. In 2025, two-way trade exceeded 45 billion US dollars, while Thailand recorded an agricultural trade surplus with the bloc of more than 940 million dollars, highlighting the export potential of Thai agricultural products. The Commerce Ministry said the Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement remains a national priority. The agreement is expected to improve Thailand’s global competitiveness, expand export opportunities, attract more investment, and create long-term opportunities for Thai businesses across multiple industries.
