PATTAYA, Thailand – Police in Pattaya are investigating a reported theft in which a British tourist allegedly lost 30,000 baht while resting at a fast-food restaurant in the early hours of June 22.
The incident is reported to have taken place around 6:00 a.m. at a McDonald’s branch in Soi 13/2, Pattaya Beach Road. According to reports, the victim was asleep on a chair when cash allegedly went missing from his possession. The tourist reportedly discovered the loss upon waking and later filed a formal complaint with Pattaya City Police, requesting investigation and possible legal action.
The case has since gained widespread attention on social media, with local online groups sharing claims and speculation about how the incident unfolded. Some posts allege that a group of three individuals may have been involved, although this has not been confirmed by authorities. Online discussions have intensified further, with so-called “social media detectives” claiming to have reviewed CCTV footage and attempting to identify those allegedly involved.
Some posts also suggest that at least one individual has been identified through online tracking and public sightings, including references to people reportedly seen near Pattaya Beach Road and Soi 13/1. However, none of these claims have been verified by police.
Authorities have confirmed that CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed as part of the investigation, but have not confirmed any suspects, identities, or arrests at this stage. The investigation remains ongoing, with police urging caution over unverified online information while they work to establish the facts of the case.
