Royal crematorium plans underway for Princess Bajrakitiyabha

The Ministry of Culture has begun nationwide preparations for the royal funeral of Princess Bajrakitiyabha.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Culture is preparing to fulfill its responsibilities for the royal funeral ceremony of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra, ensuring the highest honors in accordance with ancient royal traditions. Minister of Culture Sabeeda Thaised stated that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has directed the Ministry to prepare and construct the royal crematorium with due honor, thoroughly study Her Royal Highness’s biography and royal duties, seek guidance from royal advisers, and coordinate closely with the Bureau of the Royal Household.


​The Minister added that Permanent Secretary for Culture Prasop Riangngoen has been assigned to brief ministry executives and provincial culture offices nationwide on preparations. The ministry will establish an operations center and a special working group to coordinate efforts with the Bureau of the Royal Household, the Office of the Prime Minister, and other relevant agencies. Key responsibilities include designing and constructing the royal crematorium and related structures, supporting religious activities, organizing remembrance events and public mourning, preparing archives and historical records, and producing publications, media, and educational materials on Her Royal Highness’s biography and royal duties.

​The ministry will also work with National Artists, folk artists, students, and cultural networks nationwide to organize appropriate activities in Bangkok and the provinces. It will support public facilitation, official communication, and the dissemination of accurate information. Following the government’s announcement that state agencies and educational institutions will fly flags at half-mast and that officials observe a 15-day mourning period from June 12, 2026, the ministry will ensure that all cultural, religious, and traditional activities are conducted appropriately during the mourning period.


The Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Culture and all its departments will fulfill their duties with utmost loyalty and profound gratitude, mobilizing resources, expertise, and nationwide networks to ensure that all funeral-related missions are completed flawlessly, in a traditional manner, and with the highest honor.
