PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City officials have carried out another round of enforcement on Pattaya Beach, cracking down on individuals illegally occupying public space by renting out beach mats and chairs to tourists. The operation was led by Pattaya municipal enforcement officers in cooperation with special municipal affairs staff, who were deployed to inspect and monitor the beachfront area. Authorities said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that public beach areas remain accessible to everyone and are not unlawfully controlled for private commercial gain. During the inspection, officials identified and seized mats, chairs, and related equipment that were being illegally placed along the beach for rental purposes. The items were removed and transported to the Pattaya City Enforcement Center, where they will be held pending legal proceedings and fines in accordance with local regulations.
Officials emphasized that the use of public beach space must comply with city rules, and unauthorized commercial activities on public land are strictly prohibited. However, they clarified that visitors are still welcome to enjoy the beach freely and may bring their own mats, towels, or personal beach equipment for recreational use. Authorities said the action is aimed at maintaining order, fairness, and equal access to public space for both residents and tourists, while preventing unauthorized occupation of beachfront areas. They also urged the public to cooperate with regulations and help preserve the cleanliness and organization of Pattaya’s coastline, which remains one of the city’s key tourism attractions.
