PHUKET, Thailand – Police in Phuket have seized six modified motorcycles during a late-night operation targeting illegal street racing and noisy exhaust systems after repeated complaints from local residents. The operation was carried out overnight on June 12-13 by officers from Wichit Police Station, working alongside community leaders and local security volunteers in Wichit subdistrict.

Authorities focused enforcement efforts around Laem Dinso Viewpoint, a popular gathering spot where groups of young riders have reportedly been meeting to race motorcycles and cause disturbances for nearby residents. Police said the six motorcycles were found to have been illegally modified, including the installation of loud exhaust systems. All vehicles were confiscated and transferred to investigators for legal proceedings.

According to Wichit Police Chief Pol. Col. Somsak Thongkliang, residents living along Sakdidej Road and the route leading to Laem Dinso have repeatedly complained about motorcycle racing, excessive noise, and dangerous riding behavior late at night. He said police have been conducting continuous patrols, roadblocks, and inspection checkpoints in cooperation with village leaders and community volunteers to address the problem. Authorities noted that this is not the first operation of its kind. Wichit Police have previously arrested numerous street racers and seized hundreds of motorcycles as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and reduce disturbances in residential areas.

Police vowed to continue strict enforcement against illegal motorcycle modifications, reckless riding, and street racing activities throughout the district.
