No more charger hogging: EV Station PluZ will begin charging idle fees for EV drivers who leave their vehicles connected for more than three minutes after charging is complete.

PATTAYA, Thailand – EV Station PluZ, the electric vehicle charging network operated by PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR), has announced a new idle fee policy aimed at reducing charger congestion and preventing EV drivers from occupying charging stations after their vehicles have finished charging. Under the new measure, EV users who fail to disconnect the charging cable and move their vehicle within three minutes after a charging session ends will be subject to an idle fee.

A preparation period will run from June 9-30, during which the fee will be set at 1 baht per minute. Beginning July 1, the full penalty rate of 10 baht per minute will take effect. The policy applies to all EV Station PluZ locations nationwide and covers both AC and DC charging points. Charges will be billed separately from charging fees through the payment method linked to the user’s account and processed at 2:00 p.m. on the following day. Users will be able to review idle fee charges through the EV Station PluZ application and will receive notifications whenever a penalty is incurred. The company also announced that, starting June 9, the EV Station PluZ application will introduce a dedicated idle fee feature and adjust its reservation system to allow up to three booking slots per account.

The move comes as EV adoption continues to grow in Thailand, increasing demand for charging infrastructure and prompting concerns about charger availability when vehicles remain parked after charging is complete. EV Station PluZ currently operates approximately 1,300 charging stations across Thailand, including locations at PTT Station service centers, LPG Auto Stations, NGV Stations, office buildings, shopping malls, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, and resorts. The network maintains an average distance of less than 100 kilometers between charging stations and covers all provinces nationwide. The company is also expanding its high-power EV HUB network, offering charging capacities of up to 180 kW per charger with a minimum of six charging points per location. Ten such hubs are already in operation along major travel routes across the country.

The penalty starts at 1 baht per minute from June 9-30 and rises to 10 baht per minute from July 1, as Thailand’s largest charging network moves to improve charger availability nationwide.
