PATTAYA, Thailand – A private home-care worker has come under heavy criticism after videos circulated online allegedly showing inappropriate behavior while on duty caring for an elderly patient in Thailand. The footage, which was shared by the popular Facebook page “Lab Panda” on June 2, appears to show a caregiver drinking alcohol beside the bed of an elderly person, as well as posting separate clips of herself dancing in uniform in a suggestive manner. The exact location of the incident has not been officially disclosed, and authorities have not yet confirmed details of the care facility involved.
The page questioned the worker’s professional training and raised concerns over standards in home-based elderly care services, noting that individuals without formal healthcare degrees may still be employed depending on the patient’s condition, provided they undergo basic caregiving training.
The post quickly drew widespread criticism, with social media users calling for the relevant care provider to investigate and take disciplinary action. Commenters also raised concerns about ethical standards and the screening process for caregivers working with vulnerable elderly patients.
While the identity of the caregiver and service provider has not been confirmed, the incident has reignited debate over oversight in Thailand’s growing home-care industry. In Pattaya and other major tourist and retirement hubs, home-care providers are increasingly reviewing internal regulations and staff monitoring procedures following similar online controversies, as demand for elderly care services continues to rise. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the case.
