The Royal Thai Army says surveillance and security operations remain active along the Thai-Cambodian border, with units maintaining readiness while authorities continue monitoring developments around Chong Sa-ngam and other frontier areas.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Army has reaffirmed its readiness along the Thai-Cambodian border, stating that intelligence and operational units continue to closely monitor developments around Chong Sa-ngam in Sisaket province and other border areas. Army Spokesperson Major General Winthai Suvaree said surveillance, assessment, and security operations remain ongoing to ensure preparedness and maintain stability along the frontier. Maj. Gen. Winthai said the area opposite Chong Sa-ngam had previously been targeted during periods of heightened tensions because it was identified as a support base for activities that affected the safety of Thai civilians and military personnel. Some structures in the area were damaged during those operations.

Regarding speculation that illicit financial networks may have supported military procurement or capability development on the Cambodian side, Maj. Gen. Winthai said intelligence assessments have not established conclusive evidence. He added that Thai authorities continue to monitor developments that could affect border security and maintain close observation of relevant activities and movements. Although current assessments indicate the overall situation remains calm, the Army has instructed units to remain vigilant and maintain operational readiness. Efforts are underway to improve defensive positions and upgrade routes used for patrol and logistical support missions along the border. The Army said there are currently no indications of an immediate threat, while relevant agencies continue coordinating to safeguard border communities and maintain national security. (NNT)
