Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul says the Thai government is not directly involved in negotiations over 2026 football broadcast rights, adding that the outcome depends on ongoing talks between relevant parties.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the Thai government is not directly involved in negotiations over broadcasting rights for the 2026 football tournament, stressing that the outcome depends on discussions between the relevant parties.

Speaking on May 16, Anutin commented on progress regarding live broadcasts of the 2026 competition after the Cabinet acknowledged a proposal assigning the Public Relations Department to coordinate related efforts.

The prime minister said the government’s role is limited and that the final result will depend largely on the negotiation strategies of the organizations involved in securing the broadcasting arrangements. His remarks come amid growing public interest over whether Thai viewers will be able to watch the 2026 football tournament live on free television platforms. (TNA)
