BANGKOK, Thailand – The government is preparing nationwide royal and religious commemorative events for the 99th birthday of the Supreme Patriarch, the fourth-cycle birthday of Her Majesty the Queen, and the centennial commemoration honoring Her Majesty Queen Rambhai Barni.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met committees responsible for organizing the three commemorative celebrations yesterday (May 11) to discuss the matter. Senior Buddhist clergy, government officials, parliamentary representatives, and related agencies attended the meeting to review preparations and inter-agency coordination for upcoming ceremonies and public activities.

Events honoring the Supreme Patriarch will run from March through December 2026 and will include prayer sessions, merit-making activities, an ordination program at Wat Ratchabophit, commemorative exhibitions, and the production of commemorative publications, coins, medals, and postage stamps.

Celebrations for Her Majesty the Queen’s fourth cycle birthday anniversary will take place throughout 2026 and include royal ceremonies on June 3 and 4, Buddhist ceremonies, candle-lighting events, tribute ceremonies, public blessing activities, and commemorative projects organized by government agencies nationwide. Preparations are also underway for a royal barge procession linked to the royal Kathin ceremony at Wat Arun Ratchawararam in November.

Commemorative activities honoring Queen Rambhai Barni will continue through the end of 2027 and include religious ceremonies, exhibitions, and educational activities that present Her Majesty’s royal duties and contributions to the country. All ceremonies and activities are carefully prepared to ensure they are conducted appropriately and with full honor. (NNT)
