Supamas Isarabhakdi inspected school uniform prices in Bang Lamphu with consumer officials, following complaints over high costs and unfair sales ahead of the new school term.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi visited Bangkok’s Bang Lamphu commercial district today (May 9) to inspect school uniform and educational supply sales ahead of the new school term amid concerns over rising household expenses.

Officials from the Office of the Consumer Protection Board took part in the inspection trip to monitor pricing, product quality, and compliance with consumer protection laws.

Officials said complaints during the pre-school period included excessively high prices, failure to display prices, forced bundled purchases, incomplete labeling, and products whose quality did not match their cost. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul had instructed agencies to increase oversight of sales of school-related goods to ensure fairness for consumers.

Authorities also reminded business operators that school uniforms are regulated under Thai consumer protection and industrial quality standards laws, with violations carrying fines or imprisonment. Supamas urged retailers to offer affordable uniform packages to help ease financial pressure on families while advising parents to carefully inspect products and compare prices before making purchases.
